Blackwork Rose

Canvas

Designed for beginner and intermediate stitchers, this Tudor-style rose on canvas is a prototype for the blackwork shading of a rose. The principles of blackwork shading will be explained and will allow students some freedom of expression in how they can shade their own rose. More complicated forms of traditional and contemporary blackwork shading will be examined in class to teach how the principles are applied.

Each kit will contain stretcher bars, canvas, tape and tacks, threads (cotton, polyester, various silks), embellishments (gold leather, pearl and seed beads, sequins), and printed instructions.

Students will need to bring scissors for cutting metallic threads, embroidery scissors, and lighting and magnification as needed.
