2025 Stitchery Showcase

Excitement is building for the 2025 Stitchery Showcase! We look forward to celebrating the joy and beauty of needlework this coming October.

If you are a needleworker or quilter, please consider joining in the exhibit by entering one or more pieces for judging or for display only. All styles and skill levels are welcome, and youth (age 18 and under) can enter pieces for free.

If you just enjoy viewing lovely needlework, quilts, and beaded creations including jewelry, plan to visit the show during Ohio Mart at Stan Hywet. The event runs from Thursday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 5th.

The pieces in the exhibit will not be for sale, but you will have the opportunity to purchase hand-stitched embellished greeting cards from the Guild booth as well as tickets for chances to win one of three fabulous fundraiser prizes, the proceeds from which support textile conservation efforts for Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.

If you are looking for other ways to support the show, consider becoming a Patron. If you have a needlework-related business or group, consider advertising in the Stitchery Showcase booklet. Please contact us if you would like more information. Committee members are listed below.

When you visit the show, reserve some time to shop at Stitchers’ Fair for gently used needlework supplies at great prices.

If you are visiting with children, stop by Children’s Corner where the Guild provides free make-and-take projects on plastic canvas for young stitchers.

Coming Soon - Entry Guidelines and Forms

Entries for the 2025 show will be accepted in person in the Manor House Reception Hall on these dates:
Friday, September 26, 10 am - 4 pm
Saturday, September 27, 2 pm - 4 pm
Sunday, September 28, 10 am - 1 pm

Quilting Announcement:
The 2025 Stitchery Showcase will expand the existing categories for quilts to accept free-motion machine quilting, with or without stitch regulation. However, computerized quilting, as well as plastic, wood, and laser-assisted paper template pantograph quilting techniques will not be accepted.

Due to the expansion of categories for quilts, all quilt entries will require early registration between July 1 and August 15, 2025, to provide the Guild with extra time for space and display planning. All details will be provided in the Quilting Guidelines.

Links will be activated in June:

Signup now to receive the forms via email.

There is no early registration required for needlework or beading/jewelry. Needlework entry forms and payment will be collected in person on entry days, and there is no limit to the number of pieces that each entrant can submit. The more the better!

2025 Textile Conservation Fundraiser Prizes

The Guild is pleased to present this year’s fundraiser prizes. These pieces have been lovingly handmade and are in need of a good home. Tickets for chances to win them are available for sale from any Guild member starting in April. All proceeds support the Textile Conservation Fund for Stan Hywet.

Visitors to the show can view the prizes in person and purchase tickets during the show. The drawings will take place on Sunday, October 5th at 3:30 pm, and you do not need to be present to win.

The Wellesley Americana Bear - a delightful and patriotic needlepoint bear that sits and stands and brightens any room (14 inches wide, 17 inches tall)

Horned and Winged Beaded Bowl - a stunning three-dimensional bowl made from over 23,000 beads! (5.5 inch diameter)

Estate Quilt - a beautifully pieced quilt from the estate of Irene Greene (70 x 44 inches with a sleeve on the back that allows the quilt to be hung vertically)

The Wellesley Americana Bear

This three-dimensional needlepoint bear was designed by the Wellesley Needlepoint Company and is made up of fourteen individual canvases. The canvases, which were donated to the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild, were organized, assembled into kits, and distributed to a group of dedicated stitchers who spent the year completing each individual section. The completed canvases were turned over to an equally talented finisher to create the final, adorable bear.

The Stan Hywet Needlework Guild team members included Jody Ball, Mary Cap, Phyllis Dreyer, Sherri Hawley, Julie Kerner, Penny Mann, Sharon Merklin, Marion Mewhinney, Susan O’Malley, Wendy Price, Michelle Sayre, Betty Jo Scurei, Leslie Snowball, Cheryl Timko, and Carla Waggoner.

Horned and Winged Beaded Bowl

This stunning and unusual bowl was designed by Mikki Ferrugiaro, an international artist and bead designer. Sherri Hawley, a member of the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild with a passion for beading, stitched the bowl and informed us that it is made up of approximately 23,500 beads! It is diminutive in size and bold on color and texture.

Estate Quilt

This lovely quilt was created and stitched by Irene Greene, an avid quilter, stitcher and supporter of textile arts. As a tribute to Irene, her friends and family donated her needlework projects and supplies to the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild. Her estate donations have enabled the Guild to raise funds for the conservation of textiles in the Manor House.

Guild Booth

Guild members are excited to offer handstitched, embellished greeting cards for sale this year. Each card will feature a unique decoration on the front. There will be cards for every season and occasion, and some will have detachable stitched ornaments.

The cards will be limited in number and sure to sell out quickly. All proceeds support the Guild Education Fund.

Stop by the Stan Hywet Needlework Guild table during the show to learn about the Guild, view some of the past and upcoming needlework class projects that are offered to members and do some shopping too.
